Lesson 1 Summary
When introducing the concept of spiritual fruit, we must begin with spiritual birth. Just as a tree starts as a small seed, a spiritual rebirth must take place before any spiritual fruit is formed. Jesus’ parable of the sower is a perfect introduction to the salvation message. A seed must be planted in each heart, accepted, and begin to grow before it can produce fruit.
Lesson 2 Summary
To encourage students to produce spiritual fruit, encourage them to seek to be more like Jesus. The more they conform to Jesus’ identity, the more His Spirit will produce the spiritual fruit described in Galatians 5:22-23. Using young Jesus as a model, kids will discover that as they ground themselves in the Bible and in the fellowship of other believers, they will stand strong as Christians.
Lesson 3 Summary
As we abide or remain in Jesus, His character and influence permeate our lifestyle and are seen in ever-expanding ways! We call this the Fruit Formula—we must die to ourselves, and as Jesus lives His life through us, the Holy Spirit produces lasting fruit. Kids will see that they cannot produce lasting fruit on their own, but as they stay in constant contact with Jesus, He produces fruit in them—fruit that will last forever!
Lesson 4 Summary
This lesson focuses on the nine-fold fruit of the Spirit found in Galatians 5. It also examines the often-overlooked deeds of the flesh found in the same chapter. You’ll study Jesus’ parable of the weeds/tares which explains why evil co-exists with goodness. At the final harvest, Christ will separate those who love Him from those who have rejected Him. Until then, it is our job to walk in submission to the Holy Spirit so He can produce fruit in those who remain in Him.
